Today I Became an Aunt

Smith Randle Bailey
Born Thursday, April 29, 2010
3:14 am
1 pound 8 ounces
12.5 inches long
My amazingly brave and strong sister gave birth to her and Jon's first baby, a son, at 23 weeks and 6 days. Her due date was August 20th.
For those of you that don't already know, my sister has been in the hospital for the past 9 days on her back trying not to give birth. She was diagnosed with and incompetent cervix. Over the past 9 days Kori and Jon have had to hear things they should never have to hear and make decisions that should never have to make. I am not going to go into too much detail for their privacy but know these past 9 days have been extremely hard.
Kori and Jon are amazing people. I look up to and respect both of them so much. It has been hard to watch them go through all of this but I know God has been and will continue to watch over them. They are such Godly people and I know they have prayed and been in the word so much.
Smith truly is a miracle!
He still has a long road ahead of him and we are not out of the woods yet. The next 7 days are critical.
I was able to see him this morning and he is precious. He has the cutest little nose you will ever see. His head is about the size of a tennis ball if not smaller and his entire hand would fit on my thumbnail. As soon as I am allowed to take pictures I will post them.
For now just pray! Pray that Smith fights hard. That he will not have bleeding on the brain and that he will breath on his own soon.
I will update you soon!

Lyric, both Robert and I will keep Smith, Kori and Jon in our prayers. I know these last 9 days have been very stressful and I am so glad Kori has you as her sister. Love, your mother-in-law - Annette

Hi again.
I just wanted to share this with you in case your sister is interested. Jonnye Bower is an incredibly talented photographer and just a loving and beautiful person. We've had her photograph Nora twice. She is normally very pricey, but she does photo sessions for FREE for families with babies in the NICU. Her site is:

Once you enter the site, just click on "Giving Back" for more info. I know she'd take gorgeous pictures of Smith, so I wanted to share her info with you.
