My Uncle George and I had a special relationship. I was his first niece. He lived with us for a few months and we would go on walks when I was little. He used to always wear pearl snap shirts and I would sit on his lap and snap and unsnap them. He was full of S#!%. That is actually the best way to describe him. He would do anything for you. He would give you the shirt off his back. He was funny. He loved Harley's and classic trucks. He restored and rebuilt them. He was cool.
{Uncle George and me, Christmas Day 1980}
My grandparents were told they could not have children. George was their miracle baby. Then 12 years later my dad was born and 10 short months after that my uncle Marc was born. Even though there was such a big age gap, George always looked after his little brothers and the older they got the closer they became.
We lost him somewhat unexpectedly at the age of 70 on May 18, 2013. He was diagnosed with lung cancer in February and had a good portion of his lung removed. After being in and out of the hospital a couple of times after surgery, he ultimately died of a heart attack. He was working so hard to breath his heart just couldn't keep up.
I will miss your stories, dry sense of humor and yes, your bull S#!% too.
I love you uncle George. RIP.
